Overview

The Platform Architect designs and governs shared internal services, developer tools, and core infrastructure patterns that enable consistent, scalable delivery across domains. 

 

 

Starting base pay for this role is between $145,000 and $175,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will be eligible for a bonus as well as competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, wellness reimbursement, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. We offer vacation and sick leave benefits (under a flexible time off policy in most states).

 

Responsibilities

  • Designs reusable platform services and components (auth, observability, CI/CD, etc.). 
  • Participates in and helps lead enterprise architecture programs related to platform modernization. 
  • Collaborates with Product and Solution Architects to embed platform capabilities. 
  • Defines and maintains technical standards and templates for service delivery. 
  • Provides support, documentation, and onboarding for domain teams adopting platform tools. 
  • Owns implementation strategy for infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and Engineering enablement. 
  • Reviews proposed designs for platform alignment and compliance. 
  • Helps establish and maintain architectural governance. 
  • Assists in architecting domain solutions as needed.  

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Proven experience in system architecture. 
  • Hands-on experience with software development and system administration. 
  • 5-7 years of experience in object-oriented programming (preferably C#) or architecture roles. 
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other Engineers in adopting TDD best practices and integrating these methodologies into the team's development workflow 
  • Extensive experience working with Engineering teams to decouple and refactor monolithic code bases 
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant, and event-driven/reactive architectures using microservices and modular monolith patterns 
  • Proven experience in configuring, optimizing, and monitoring the performance and reliability of streaming data clusters 
  • Proficiency in MVC patterns (ASP.NET, Angular, or React) 
  • Strong understanding of software quality assurance principles, security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security 
  • Experience designing scalable API frameworks with an API first mentality
  • Understanding of strategic IT solutions and their application in business context
  • Extensive hands-on experience with messaging and streaming data technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar, or AWS Kinesis) in production environments, using streaming frameworks like Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, Flink, or Spark 
  • Proven experience in configuring, optimizing, and monitoring the performance and reliability of streaming data clusters
  • Experience with modern SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Redis) 
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS EKS, Lambda, EC2, and S3) and serverless architectures
  • Experience with Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks (e.g., Angular or React) a plus
  • Experience in project management and Agile development methodologies a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
