Overview

The Program Manager is responsible for delivering complex technology initiatives and acting as the bridge between departments. The manager defines and prioritizes program objectives, oversees objectives through the software development lifecycle, and manages risks, issues, and dependencies. The Program Manager will be responsible for providing regular program updates, and for organizing and utilizing approved platforms and systems for tracking and communication across various stakeholders.


The Program Manager position directs efforts between projects, leading the overall program with strong attention to business objectives, implementation, and delegation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the operation of departments within approved programs to confirm specifications, control deadlines, budgets and activities.
  • Directs, formulates, organizes and monitors inter-connected projects/activities.
  • Decides on strategies and objectives, paying close attention to avoid unapproved scope creep or loss of focus.
  • Performs program analysis, manages performance and risk management by identifying and influencing necessary course corrections, creatively solves problems, and communicates program status and activities to leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Identifies, produces standardized KPIs and presents program reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Implements and manages changes and interventions to ensure program goals are achieved.
  • Monitors and carefully considers resource constraints when planning, scheduling and executing programs. Proactively communicates bottlenecks or other blockers in a prompt and solution-oriented manner.
  • Identifies key requirements and execution support needed from cross-functional teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Where applicable, accountable for individual team member productivity and success. Performs ongoing team member career development and performance management, in addition to leading the annual performance review process for all team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field; MBA a plus. 
  • 4-6+ year’s experience in Project/Program Management. Previous PMP experience and certification is a plus. 
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Experience delivering software products and the software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrates knowledge on technical topics such as APIs, data transfer, etc.
  • Previous stakeholder and vendor management experience in a project environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working with business and technical executives to outline and execute against strategic roadmaps.
  • Ability to influence others even when you have no direct line of authority over them.
  • Excellent understanding of standard program management tools such as Asana, Monday, and others.
  • Insurance or Risk Management industry experience is preferred but not required.
