Overview

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) works with the QA team to evaluate existing automation framework, enhance test frameworks, write and design automation scripts from scratch, and maintain automated test scripts to ensure quality control standards are achieved. This person helps grow, develop, and implement automated testing solutions to maximize testing coverage and reduce testing cycle time.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Test Automation Architect in evaluating and learning existing automation frameworks and providing automation solutions for building an end-to-end regression suite.
  • Develops, executes, and maintains automation test scripts to meet software release deliverables, project testing requirements, and other quality considerations.
  • Works to minimize manual testing by identifying high-ROI test cases and automating them.
  • Acts as an integral part of an Agile Engineering team, working interactively with Software Engineers, Test Engineers and Product Managers for the full development life cycle.
  • Ensures functionality delivered in each sprint is well tested, utilizing automation wherever possible.
  • Develops smoke, functional, regression, and integration test suites for GUI front-end, API services and database backend.
  • Documents, maintains, and monitors software problems.
  • Recommends strategies and methods to improve test plans and test processes.
  • Maintains well-organized records of test results and generates historical analysis of test results.
  • Mentors manual QA testers while working on implementing and enhancing automation efforts.
  • Leverages automation best practices and coding standards to deliver high-quality products.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • This role requires a foundational understanding of security and privacy responsibilities and applicable standards such as NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, and SOC 2. They are expected to follow Origami Risk policies regarding information protection, security protocols, complete mandatory training, report suspicious activities, report security or privacy incidents, and handle information in accordance with data classification and protection requirements. The role's risk level (low/moderate/high) is defined based on system and data access.

Qualifications

  • Ability to legally work in the Domincan Republic
  • Fluency in English 
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent 
  • 2+ years of experience with various programming languages such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Python, or equivalent. Well versed in Object-Oriented Programming Skills.
  • 2+ years of experience in a QA department, with a strong focus on test automation.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience using open-source automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, etc.
  • Extensive experience (2-3 years) in automating UI and API tests, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and performing database testing.
  • Exposure to open-source automation tools for mobile automation such as Appium and/or iOS native frame XCUItest, and native framework Espresso for Android.
  • Experience in integrating automation solutions within CI/CD pipelines and utilizing cloud technologies for scalable testing.
  • Experience with robot and page object model frameworks, leveraging open-source solutions for test automation.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, specifically Scrum or Kanban, to support iterative development and testing.
  • Strong communicator with excellent analytical skills, capable of solving complex problems and driving improvements in test automation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the QA team.
